Call for Speakers

CocoaLove is always looking for fresh and diverse perspectives to add to the speaker lineup.

What kind of talks are we looking for? Most importantly we view the talks we select as sparks for conversations among the audience. We design CocoaLove to encourage attendees to interact with each other and with the speakers, and there's no better way to break that ice than with interesting presentations. To that end we tend to lean away from the heavy technical talks. Debugging CoreLocation 401 would leave a lot of the audience lost as we've usually a mix of developers, designers, testers, and more.

Here's some of the talks we've had in the past:

Now those talks, they make for not only great conversations but also lessons that'll last longer than the next Swift release! (not to say we don't welcome tech-focused submissions, but to keep all that in mind when framing your approach)

What's the talk format? We mix two talk formats in throughout the conference: the normal 45 minute talk formats you'll see at most conferences, and our mini-talks coming in at 15 minutes. Why the two formats? Some talks just work better when they're condensed (or honestly some people just feel more comfortable giving 15 minute talks, and that's totally cool).

How do we take care of our speakers? A free ticket, for starters. And a hotel room (Fri & Sat night). And we cover travel costs. We know that travel can be a huge barrier, especially for groups normally underrepresented in our community, so we've always covered all of these three to make sure our speaking opportunities are as Accessible as possible.

Interesting in speaking?

Lets talk more! Head over to our call for speakers application to start telling us more about yourself. If you need any more information first, feel free to reach out to us at info@cocoalove.org.

Thanks to everyone that applied! CFP closed at midnight on May 1 and we had an overwhelming number of applications. We'll be reaching out to those that applied in the coming weeks.
